The premise of Watching Her immediately grabbed my attention, setting up a suspenseful scenario with a lot of promise, but the story struggles to maintain that early excitement. While it was still entertaining for a short read, the narrative started to drag in the middle. Instead of taking action to drive the plot forward, Max spends too much time simply being stalkery and ranting to himself, which makes those sections feel repetitive. I kept hoping for some backstory on him to ground the narrative. Giving him a history would have added a much-needed layer of complexity to his character rather than just having him spin his wheels.
Unfortunately, the payoff was not there either. The final reveal falls flat, and the conclusion is poorly executed. If you like quick suspense setups and voyeuristic mysteries, then you may enjoy this book.
