I could not put We're Like Family Here down! Jack Dane's writing just keeps getting better, and this book is one of my favorites so far. The workplace setting brings a fresh, dark energy to the thriller genre, a welcome break from the usual domestic setups.
The story jumps between the perspectives of Ashley, Michelle, and Brian, driving sharp character development. I loved hate-reading Brian's pov. He is a textbook narcissist and a vicious misogynist, and getting inside his head made the unfolding disaster gripping.
Dane builds scenes with such detail I could feel Michelle's rage through the pages and vividly picture Brian dancing in his bathroom like he was God's gift to the world. The short chapters keep the pace tight and relentless, pulling everything toward a brilliant twist and a satisfying ending.
If you want an easy read with excellent writing and great twists this book is for you.
