If you are looking for a read with Halloween vibes, The Wives of Hawthorne Lane by Stephanie DeCarolis is a fantastic choice. This book kept my attention locked in from the very first page to the last.
There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but the author handles the character development so well that everyone feels distinct and easy to follow. The neighborhood drama is top-notch, pulling you into the messy lives and secrets of the residents. It moves at a solid medium pace, and the short chapters make it incredibly easy to keep turning the pages.
The suspense builds steadily, and the twists are executed incredibly well without feeling cheap or predictable. Everything wraps up nicely at the end, making for a highly satisfying thriller! Things do get rather violent as the story progresses, so I highly recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving in.
