The Price of Honey
When tech visionary Barney Beckett dies, he leaves behind a complicated legacy and four very different women: his widow, Honey, and three ex-wives who each played a role in dismantling the marriage before them. Practical Rita, fiery Svetlana, and ambitious Meredith all gather for the funeral, expecting a standard farewell to the man who controlled their lives.
But Barney was a man who loved surprises, and he remained in control until the very end. As the four rivals sit together, the atmosphere shifts from mourning to suspicion. They soon discover that Barney had one last move to make—a final, sharp reversal of fortune that proves his ultimate betrayal was saved for the funeral.

Liane Moriarty delivered a lot of impact in only 34 pages with The Price of Honey. It was an interesting look at a widow reflecting on her marriage before attending her husband’s funeral, and the short length made the pacing feel very tight. The surprise at the end was completely unexpected and exciting, providing a great payoff for such a quick read.
