- May and Natalie find a folder filled with pictures of women who stayed at the resort, including Summer and Rachel.
- Natalie and Matthew follow footsteps into the jungle and find Summer tied up while Vincent, Simon, Ben and Brenda surround her and perform a ritual.
- Matthew distracts the staff, and Natalie runs out of the jungle into Toby, who knocks her unconscious.
- Natalie wakes up tied up next to Summer, with Toby participating in the ritual.
- Vincent poisons Summer as a human sacrifice.

- Toby tells Natalie that his mother used to be a housekeeper on the island until he was told she drowned. Years later, he found out that The Elysian staff used his mother as a human sacrifice and spent years planning his revenge.

- Ryan proposes to Natalie, and she says yes.
A thriller set at a luxury resort on a remote island is one of my favorite settings, so this book immediately caught my attention.
The mystery and suspense kept me engaged, with enough uncertainty to keep me questioning everyone’s motives. My favourite part was the twist. I didn’t see it coming at all, and I always appreciate a thriller that can still surprise me. It felt earned rather than relying on shock value alone.
I also thought the pacing was solid for most of the book. It wasn’t one of those thrillers that had me unable to put it down, but it held my attention throughout and I never found myself getting bored. I did wish I’d connected more with the characters, though. A little more character development would have made the emotional moments hit harder. The climax also felt longer than it needed to be. The final confrontation seemed to go on and on, which took some of the momentum out of what should have been the most intense part of the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The isolated setting, engaging mystery, and genuinely surprising twist made it a great read.
