Jenifer Ruff delivers a high-stakes, claustrophobic mystery set against the backdrop of deadly avalanches. The short chapters kept the pacing moving quickly and the tension high throughout.
Even though this is the tenth book in the series, it works great as a standalone. The story does a great job of filling in the essentials, so I never felt like I was missing important context from the previous books.
With a small cast of characters, the mystery stayed tight and focused. The character development is strong; I found myself deeply invested in the outcome, rooting for Victoria to solve the crime and genuinely concerned for Alex’s safety as the danger escalated. If you love a snowed in thriller with lots of tension, this book is for you.
