It's Not Her
The quiet of Courtney Gray’s vacation is violently broken when she finds her brother and his wife murdered in their lakeside cabin. Upstairs, her nephew Wyatt sleeps on, untouched by the horror below. But her niece, Reese, has vanished without a trace.
As investigators descend upon the tight-knit community, buried secrets begin to claw their way to the surface. The question haunting everyone: Was Reese taken by a cold-blooded killer, or is she the one with blood on her hands? In a race against time, Courtney must navigate a maze of lies to uncover a truth no one saw coming.

The story in It's Not Her by Mary Kubica is told through two different perspectives and timelines, switching between Courtney in the present day and Reese from exactly one week prior. This structure works well to build the suspense right out of the gate, especially since the book kicks off strong with two murders right away.
After that intense beginning, the pacing does slow down quite a bit. Usually, a slow-moving plot is a tough sell for me, but this one managed to keep my interest due to the shifting perspectives and great writing style. The story is packed with red herrings and smaller twists that constantly shift your perspective, which definitely had me thinking and re-thinking what was going to happen as I read. The big twist at the end was fantastic!
I recommend this book to anyone who likes a lot of suspense and a twisty story where you won't guess the ending.
