His & Hers
A chilling murder shatters the peace of Blackdown, a picture-perfect British village, forcing newsreader Anna Andrews to report on a crime she desperately wants to avoid. Detective Jack Harper leads the investigation, his instincts immediately pointing toward Anna's suspicious behavior. His & Hers is a psychological thriller that constantly pulls the rug out from under you. The narrative alternates between Anna, Jack, and the killer's point of view, creating a tense atmosphere. Getting inside the killer's head adds a deeply unsettling layer to the mystery, especially since neither Anna nor Jack are giving you the full picture.
The short chapters make this an easy book to fly through, and the fast pacing keeps the momentum high from start to finish. Every time I thought I had a solid theory, Feeney dropped another surprise. The toxic, shared history between the characters keeps the suspect pool tightly connected, and you quickly learn to trust no one. Priya stood out as a particularly interesting character to follow amid all the chaos. I spent the second half of the book trying to figure out what she was really thinking and whose side she was actually on, making her scenes extra tense.
The ending twist was a good one, even though it relied on a little too much explanation to tie everything together at the very close.
If you like toxic dynamics and lots of twists, then you will love this book.
